Valoween Pasta
Happy Valoween creepy friends! Below you will find my recipe for how I made my beet dyed red pasta with black Alfredo sauce.
What you will need:
1 bag of heart shaped pasta
3 uncooked beets
1 can of white pasta sauce
Black food dye
Cheese of your choice
**Be careful getting any of this on your clothing, beets will stain almost anything even when they are un cooked. You can see my hands above***
- Cut the stems and leafs off of the beets
- Place beets in a large pot of boiling water(you need enough water for your pasta and extra just incase), boil until soft and you can get a fork easily through. About 15 - 20mins depending on the size of your beets
- Carefully remove cooked beets with large spoon and set aside. You can eat these later, add them to your pasta, etc
- In the same pot or smaller bring the beet water back to a boil
- Add heart shaped pasta and boil till cooked desire
- Once your pasta is cooked it will have absorbed the red dye from the beet water giving you naturally dyed red pasta
- Strain pasta and set aside
- Add black food dye to your white pasta sauce and top with cheese
- Keep the black pasta sauce separate from red pasta until ready to eat
- Add pasta and sauce to bowl and enjoy!
*Its very important that you do not mix the sauce and pasta together to save for later or you will have black/gray pasta next time.
I really wish I took the time to make a sauce from scratch but I didn’t have enough time when I made this pasta. Feel free to melt down your own cheese and add spices to make your own. You can also use activated charcoal for a more natural way to dye the sauce but be very careful. Eating too much charcoal could send you right to the bathroom!
If you make this pasta I would love to see it! Tag me on instagram @eerie.shanae and post it below!!
